Beautiful exhibition in the gallery inside the “Actes Sud” bookstore. Access to this underground gallery is via a staircase which is located in the middle of tables and book displays.
Why this exhibition inside the bookstore? Just simply because a box of three “pocket photo” books only dedicated to women photographers from the birth of photography to the present day will soon be released.
The images offered show, as if it were still necessary, that women were able to very quickly appropriate the various tools offered by photography. They were able to create works of very high quality, indeed exceptional for some of them.
If indeed, women are sometimes less present in major exhibitions, there are a multitude of great names as famous as their male colleagues. The importance of the impact of women photographers is such that three volumes were necessary to offer an overview.
