B Shot by a Stranger is a project that looks into the loneliness of youth, shot through webcam, as a play of voyeurism, to not interfere with the loners’ physical and energetic space. They don’t know the photographer Gonzalo Bénard but they trust him, and accept him as a stranger. Because they are lonely, they need attention, or someone to talk to. All these young men are between 18 and 28 years old, from all around the world, and have different cultures, different religions, different worries. From Ohio to Philippines, from Austria to Puerto Rico, Poland or South Africa, Gonzalo Bénard feels that the universal youth is suffering from what should be considered as an illness of our century. During the last seven years, he took photographs of more than 50 loners so far, making around 500 photographs, hoping to send a message through wonderful images, pointing out an issue, and making the loners to be part of a quite unique sociological photo project.
