Myth
The sun illuminates the sky and the Earth. All living things depend on it for their growth. To me, the sun is the symbolic existence of the truth, which provides the essential nutrition for life with equality. As the rotation and revolution of the Earth, the geographic distribution of total sunshine hours is very various. The appearance of our planet also varies throughout the year.
In my universe, the highlighting of the apple is a metaphor for the Earth, a miniature of our planet. The strong contrast effect between highlight and core shadow is a common thread, which signifies the forms of existence of truth. In reality, it may be a false truth – a collective awareness is formed according to the values of different groups, regions, cultures.
Chapter 1 : Anti-Asian Hate
Inspired by the legend of William Tell being forced to shoot an apple off the head of his son, “Myth Chapter 1: Anti-Asian Racism” depicts the xenophobic rhetoric that blames and targets people of Asian descent for the spread of Covid-19. The coronavirus, which was first identified in China, has infected and killed millions of people globally. Many countries are taking sanitary measures to prevent the spread of viruses, such as lockdown, closing restaurants, museums. One year of living with COVID-19 leads to an increased hate crime against people of Asian descent in the US and Europe.
