May 1977. In front of me, a stylish 30-year-old stares at me and immediately asks if I have tattoos. We’re preparing “Photo”, the magazine, and the editor-in-chief, Jean-Jacques Naudet tells me that he is going to publish six pages on my adventures with the urban tribes: Rockers, Teddies, Hell’s, etc…
This publication, in the most famous of monthlies dedicated to photography, was going to open the pages of the weekly Paris-Match to me, and direct my fate…
Nearly forty years after, after two email exchanges, the same Naudet responded to my proposal of publishing images from the book “Blousons Noirs” (“Black Jackets”) in his e-journal “L’Oeil de la Photographie”: “Great, so twelve photos and an article!” The enthusiasm is even stronger, and it’s a real pleasure to see these published images again and that after so many years, the passion of the photo and the availability of a major photography editor has not changed.
