The Studio Willy Rizzo has organized a new exhibition of the Hollywood photographs of Willy Rizzo, which will be on display through July 5th.
“There’s no way I’m taking a plane to go to California,” Rizzo wrote during his first trip to Los Angeles. “I liked the idea of crossing the United States in a car. I bought a used Chevrolet. My goal was Hollywood, its stars, its producers, its studios, everything I’d been dreaming of since childhood. It was a fascinating world, geographically close at hand, nothing more than ‘a suburb of Los Angeles,’ but it was inaccessible to mere mortals.”
A few months later, Rizzo was back in Europe, head-over-heels for Hollywood, where he returned throughout his career. A bond formed between the movie stars and the man who loved them; they trusted him and had faith that the glamour of his photographs would help them get where they wanted to go.
