The topic of these staged photographies is the art debate on the perception of “border” in multiple ways. Geographically spoken this artwork is located between Germany and the neighbouring countries. Much more of interest though is the discussion about crossing frontiers in relation to social and moral aspects.
According to which specific rules and behaviour patterns do people act in different countries, how can these attitudes be construed, are there common measures of value, in which surroundings and structures act children, women, men, families etc.? To which extent are we monitored, is the individual confined and narrowed? Which aspects are still respected to be private, which rules are permitted to be broken, thus which limits are legal to be exceeded, finally which BORDERS are allowed to be crossed?
A newsworthy topic more than ever…..I’m sorry to say.
