The Place We Live, The People We Love : Exhibition of Photographs from Chinese Collections

Preview

The photographic art space iE sPaCe, co-founded by the publishing house Imageless and the visual design studio e2 works, is launching its first exhibition, The Place We Live, The People We Love, featuring 16 photographs, each from a different collector. This exhibition marks the official opening of iE sPaCe.

“At an art book fair, a young woman picked up a photography book and began leafing through it. She was wearing glasses and turned the pages very slowly, which is quite rare at a fair. Suddenly, she stopped on a page, as if her breath had frozen. Very quickly, she asked the price, bought the book, and left. Years later, that moment of her holding her breath while leafing through the book still comes back to me. I am convinced that, at that precise moment, she was touched by “photography.”

Photography is a quiet medium, often even ignored. Yet it possesses a particular power: it can create a resonance between the viewer and the photographer.

For the opening exhibition of the iE sPaCe space, we invited friends who are photography collectors to present their collections. Collector Peter Fetterman explains that collecting is a journey of self-discovery; these works reflect the joys and sorrows of different stages of life. In an age where images are so easily accessible, collecting photographs is also a form of recognition, a recognition of value. Because these works reflect the place where we live and the people we love.

iE sPaCe

iE sPaCe is an artistic space jointly created by Imageless and the e2 works studio. Through exhibition, sharing, exchange, and educational projects, iE sPaCe aims to build a community dedicated to artistic photography, in order to introduce a wide audience to the charm of photography.

Imageless

Founded in 2015, Imageless is an artistic organization focused on photography and exceptional creators. Specializing in the publication and distribution of photography books, Imageless promotes photography education and collection, and is committed to promoting Chinese and foreign photographic artists internationally.

e2 works

Founded in 2017, e2 works is a renowned visual design studio in China. While offering design consulting services for commercial brands, the studio also collaborates with artists on the design and production of their works.

The creation of iE sPaCe marks the evolution of the collaboration between Imageless and e2 works, which had previously focused on photographic paper, to a spatial project. This new space seeks to anchor photography in concrete connections with the present, while exploring new bridges between art and commerce.
