teNeues presents Shades Of Sensuality, the new book by Tina Trumpp. She shared her preface with us.
The exploration of the female nude is an endless source of inspiration. Feelings, dreams, fears, vulnerability and confidence—the photographic representation of the body allows me to express the inner world of a human being. In the narrative of the individual image titles, the viewer is to be taken on an imaginative journey regardless of space and time. The stories being told stimulate the viewer to think beyond. Partially immersed in the imagery of the female body in painting, silence plays a major role in my images. Beauty and aesthetics in combination with emotions are the main focus. In today’s puritanically motivated debate about nudity, we should cultivate the art form of nude photography.
It is important to me to create an expression of female tenderness without male dominance, thereby creating a consciously perceptible closeness to the muses depicted.
The viewer becomes an accomplice in an intimate situation where the woman represents a personality of confidence with a strong character. The essential element of my photography is a special color scheme, which differs from the otherwise popular black and white nude photography. Through this, the women do not appear classically statuesque, but present the nuances of their very own characteristic countenance.
My love of art is rooted in my musical upbringing. It was mainly classical music that influenced my artistic development—first as a piano player, later as a singer with a deep love for jazz. Five years ago I started an exciting journey into the world of photography as a self-taught photographer. I was always carried by a higher goal: the ode to the sensuality and beauty of women as well as the human being in itself. Had I started my photographic career at a younger age, my images would have certainly be different. Because of my grown identity as a woman, I am able to realize nowaday what speaks to me from within. With full passion and enthusiasm, I set out to compose and in the end realized these images. In all my photographic art projects, whether in Paris, Antwerp, Berlin or Stuttgart, I was with one eye photographer and observer, and with the other eye soul-giver of the portraits for a wealth of associations. At the end, I am particularly interested in the power, strength and grace of femininity—calm and poised, in a balance with herself and with absolutely natural self-confidence.
