Published by teNeues, Christophe Jacrot’s Winterland is accompanied by the following text:

Christophe Jacrot is the photographer of “bad weather” and a witness of climate change.

He has made the whims of the sky his raw material. He photographs what most people try to flee: rain, snow, cold, and the sky as it darkens. In his images, bad weather ceases to be hostile and becomes poetic matter.

With Winterland, he opens the doors to a suspended world fragile and luminous the world of snow-covered landscapes. Here, snow is not merely a backdrop: it becomes memory, nostalgia, poetry. It recalls childhood and its games, solitude and its dreams, purity and its fragility.

Sublime and fleeting, it disappears as it came, like a metaphor for life. Its fragile prospect of future existence in the face of climate change is fully measured here.

“I do not use any artifice,” explains Christophe Jacrot. “No filters, no AI just a carefully chosen viewpoint at the foot of an immense snowdrift, and often nothing more. A photographer’s signature is his point of view.”
