Music Teacher
The photo project “Music Teacher” was filmed at the municipal music school, which was opened in 1956, in music classes where classes take place every day.
I was interested in understanding and capturing teachers, how they feel in this profession, what they are like and their relationship with music.
Music teachers took part in the project; as it turned out, they were all women who had dedicated their entire lives to teaching and raised several generations of musicians. Their professional activities began in Soviet times and they still teach children music and singing to this day.
Traditionally, music teachers in Russia have been women since Soviet times. Having extensive teaching experience, they continue to work after retirement, acutely aware that work is undoubtedly an important part of their lives. The connection with the students is lost, but the memory of the most talented remains.
