American multimedia artist Steve Miller’s innovative experiments merge X-ray imagery with the complex beauty of nature. Working with scientific equipment including electron microscopes, X-rays, MRI machines, and even Rorschach blots, Miller examines natural subjects (and sometimes man-made ones) through an x-ray technology that results in representational and abstract pictures. Miller’s choice in subject matter knows no bounds, pulling from such diverse elements as blood cells, x-rays of plants and animals from the Amazon rainforest, the folding of proteins, and the movement of ions. Published by Glitterati, his first book entitled Radiographic offers an opportunity to see the work of someone who tries to expand the boundaries of art.
