Abysses végétales
“Abysses végétales” offers an intimate dive into the inner world of plants. Inspired by the paintings of Georgia O’Keeffe, it creates a tension between abstraction and figuration, where the microcosm of flowers becomes an organic landscape.
The series offers a sensory experience in which plant life is no longer merely decorative, but constitutes a world in and of itself.
Indeed, the artistic approach echoes the reflection of Estelle Zhong Mengual, Doctor in art history and author of “Learn to see. The point of view of the living” . The author wonders about the strong attraction of humans to flowers when “their color, shape and fragrance were shaped for the appreciation of other living beings than us, the pollinators.”
So, according to Estelle Zhong Mengual, beyond our differences of body, we would share a taste and sensitivity with other living beings.
“To experience the beauty of a flower is thus to experience the evidence and mystery of an unbreakable bond between oneself and each wild bee, between oneself and each moth.”
