For its second edition, the Mérignac Photographic Festival confirms the city of Mérignac’s commitment to make photography accessible to all. A journey of discovery, escape, meetings, and sharing, the festival will be displayed in the city for more than two months. It lets everyone professionals, enthusiasts, or the simply curious open a unique window on our world thanks to the work of talented photographers, with Isabel Muñeoz, this edition’s guest of honor, in the forefront. Other names present at this edition: Anna Malgrida, Karlheinz Weinberger, Jake Verzosa, Andrea Santolaya, Mark Neville, and many others. Generous and plural, the programming developed by François Cheval, former director of the musée Niépce in Chalon-sur-Saône and invited curator, highlights that which gathers us despite our differences… like a challenge given to each of us. “The urgency of a new community is essential,” explains François Cheval. “It changes itself on a daily basis, through experiences of friendship, struggle, through rituals and habits. The Mérignac Photographic Festival gives us the chance to share, through images, the experiences of human societies who knew or still know how to live together. The ambition is great but is in line with the role this event has to play.”
