A long-term project about the military units ensuring the Sentinelle plan, protecting the people of Paris. Once the emergency of the attacks over, the massive deployment of military people in the country changed the relationship between them and the civilians.
As a Parisian, I wanted to lead this project to see beyond the faces I come across for a few seconds when I go through the train station, or in front of the numerous heritage sites Paris is full of.
Those passing, armed silhouettes, wearing camo in the city, flooded in an half-Parisian half-tourists crowd, quickly seen, quickly forgotten, are part of the landscape : How long have they been here ? What are their days like ?
I chose to document the Sentinelle operation as it is seen and experienced by the people who live it : early in the morning, late at night, during the weeks and weekends, under the heat-wave or the cold snaps…
