Sale from the estate of Willy Ronis

Preview

On 13th December at 7.00pm, the Photography Department at Artcurial has arranged a meeting with the world’s collectors for an exceptional event, the auction sale of a collection from the estate of Willy Ronis, the Stéphane Kovalsky Collection.

It is the first sale of monographs devoted to Willy Ronis, a respected artist of the Humanist School. It comprises nearly 160 symbolic and more private works, which retrace the career of this photographer who counted among his friends Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau and Edouard Boubat. All of the photographs offered for auction come from the collections of the artist’s grandson, Stéphane Kovalsky.

With this sale event, he wishes to pay a singular and personal homage to his grandfather, but also reconfirm his place in the history of photography in the second half of the 20th century and the international art market.

The exhibition showing all of the photographs will take place at Artcurial from Friday 9th to Monday 12th December inclusive.
