Mario Peliti is a gentleman in the old sense of the term. He is also a mad visionary. That word is overused, but in his case it’s true. He has always chased his dream, and that dream is photography. In fact, Peliti has two passions (in fact, more than two, but let’s stay on subject): photography and printing. His work is issued by his own publishing house (Peliti Associati, which has a long partnership with Actes Sud) in editions that are beautifully designed and printed. They’re so wonderful that they become necessary. A title? How about this Pentti Sammallahti, with black-and-white soft as velvet, inviting the reader to flip through its pages full of thick blacks and warm greys.
