Occupied for four years, the capital was liberated thanks to the resistance, the mobilization launched by Colonel Rol-Tangy and the entry into Paris of Leclerc tanks. From August 19th to 25th, 1944, there was an insurrection; on August 26, General de Gaulle and the Parisians marched on the Champs-Elysées.
