Title: Monastic life

Richard Jacob N. Dy

Synopsis:

Old age has a way of changing people’s lives. In Cambodia, some women–some widowed or abandoned–choose to live as monastics as they age, freeing themselves from worldly desires as they play vital roles in the preservation and dissemination of Buddhist practices in a community.

In the heart of the Siem Reap town lies several quarters for aging nuns, where the photographer spent two mornings and three afternoons in his attempt to paint a poetry of a monastic life.
