Pierre Sempé, Grandpa

Preview

Grandpa was my grandfather, Gabriel SEMPÉ (1901-1990). He was known for being 12 times champion of France of the 110 meters hurdles between 1923 and 1935.

He participated in the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, Amsterdam in 1928, and Berlin in 1936. His entire life was devoted to sport. He practiced almost all disciplines: weight, disc, high jump, pole vault, long jump, decathlon etc …

I feel a lot of pride and love for this man who was my grandfather during a part of my adolescence. He forged me with his knowledge, and his taste for Art. Naturally, I decided to devote to him this work of 22 photographs, realized in digital with a NIKON D3200 50mm, fixed objective.

The “Grandpa” series includes photographs of photographs from the family album, photographs of works of art made in a personal photo studio, and self-portraits.
