Memory does not fall under the study of history. Whoever remembers is dealing with a selective, random, emotional and only somewhat factual memory. Only certain memories resurface, while others have disappeared without a trace. The act of memory brings back to life what we have loved and thought about.
In order to better recall what Catalan photography meant for me when I first discovered it in the 1980s, I turn to issues of the magazine Clichés, where I served as the deputy editor-in-chief.
