Photo Phnom Penh Festival 2021 : Flore : The scent of the night was that of jasmine

Preview

The twelfth edition of Photo Phnom Penh Festival presents Flore.

In the footsteps of the texts of Marguerite Duras in French Indochina (The Sea wall, Eden Cinema, The Lover, The North China Lover ) Flore takes us into a new fiction, one that subtly combines memory and experience of places, literature and visions.

It is not about illustrating texts but, while paying homage to an essential author, proposing a universe in which mental images and experience of the landscape and spaces marked by the time reconstruct the world.

Time seems interrupted and everything invites contemplation, a form of slowness that finds its place on the banks of the Mekong.

The processing of the prints, based on a great deal of know-how nourished by knowledge of ancient techniques, makes it possible to perfectly restore an atmosphere more than a geography. A beautiful literary journey, soft and subtle.

Born in 1963, Flore is a Franco-Spanish artist photographer who currently lives and works in Paris. After working for 10 years for the national press, she has devoted herself exclusively to her personal work since 2008.

Through refined technical interventions in the laboratory, as an alchemist even, FLORE shapes as much as she recreates the world unfolding before her eyes to make unique images that move away from conventional photographic reality.

She teaches masterclass, has exhibited regularly internationally and is the recipient of the 2020 Nadar Prize for ” L’odeur de la nuit était celle du jasmin”.
