Art on a Postcard is back for its second year as the official charity partner of Photo London, presenting Photography on a Postcard.
Photography on a Postcard is a unique opportunity to take home specially created and signed works by some of the world’s most coveted photographers. Bidding for the second annual Photography on a Postcard auction opened on 8 May on Paddle8 and the exhibition will be displayed at Photo London from 16- 19 May 2019.
The carefully curated collection features some of the world’s most collectable and interesting contemporary photography on a 10 x 15 cms scale, and as a truly democratic platform the reserve price for all artworks starts at £50.
This year’s impressive line-up includes Steve McCurry, Alvaro Deprit, Larry Clarke, John Myers, Karen Knorr, Felicity McCabe, Roger Ballen, Julia Fullerton-Batten, Michael Wolf, Sandro Miller, Paul Trevor, Larry Fink, Eammon Doyle, Todd Hido, Jen Osbourne and many more. Matching the artist to the image has always been half the fun of Photography on a Postcard as all of the work is anonymous until the sale closes on 22 May.
“We are delighted to be back at Photo London for a second year. Our line up reads like a “Who’s Who” of contemporary photography and gives new collectors a unique chance of owning a oneoff print by a well-known photographer. The secret element means you either have to know your photography or that you simply love the image. There will be a lot of surprises.” Gemma Peppé, Director of Art on a Postcard.
All of the proceeds go to The Hepatitis C Trust’s campaign to eliminate hepatitis C by 2025.
The Hepatitis C Trust is the national UK charity for hepatitis C. It was founded and is now led and run by people with personal experience of hepatitis C and almost all of our Board, staff and volunteers either have hepatitis C or have had it and cleared it after treatment.
Art on a Postcard raises money for The Hepatitis C Trust through an annual secret postcard auction and ‘postcard lotteries’ which occur throughout the year. They have had work donated from well established artists such as Peter Blake, Damien Hirst, Harland Miller, Gavin Turk, Rachel Howard, Marina Abramavic, Gilbert and George, Polly Morgan, John Wragg RA, Stephen Chambers RA, Michael Craig-Martin and Cecily Brown as well as emerging talent such as David Shillinglaw, Hayden Kays and Daisy Cook as well as urban artists, Ben Eine, Pure Evil and Inkie and photographers Dougie Wallace and Rankin.
The photographs are up for auction on Paddle8 from 8-22 May and exhibited at Photo London, South Wing, Stamp Stairwell from 16-19 May 2019.
