Phot’Aix is a photography festival, organized in Aix-en-Provence by Galerie Fontaine Obscure, that tries hard to address a double challenge: to promote contemporary photography by encouraging exchanges between French and foreign artists for the international exhibition Regards Croisés and to get photography onto the streets, favoring the emergence of new talent by organizing themed photography walks in Aix-en-Provence. Loyal to their tradition, the walks let the viewer discover, by touring the streets and places of Aix-en-Provence, the talent of the photographers invited to express themselves on a variety of themes.
From October 5 through December 30, Regards Croisé is welcoming China. Five Chinese photographers are exhibiting opposite five French photographers in the former Preacher’s College at Aix-en-Provence’s city center. The exhibitions include: Zhang Kechun, Le Fleuve Jaune and Guillaume Millet, The Frontier ; Li Ming, Voyage aux Trois gorges and Amélie Chassary, Horizons ; Jin Xin, Echo Lointain and Sandrine, De Pas, Traits d’Union; Li Zhi, Voyage en Montagne and Fabrice Domenet, En errance; Li Zhiguo, Tellement Minuscule and Anthony Morel, 3°Œil.
As for the walks, they are spread out across town according to the following themes: Fragility, Portrait, Sextius-Cathédrale, Marazin-Mirabeau, and China revealed through its photographers.
This manifestation of the cultural landscape of Aix generally takes place in a spirit of change, highlighting the work of both known and unknown artists. The photography plays with proximity and comes to meet the public. It is an occasion to tour the town, to make urban and artistic discoveries, in a friendly environment.
