Philippe Soussan’’s minimalist and refined language is a trap. A trap for intelligence, a philosophical trap. An alliteration. A wise construction. A sensitive questioning that requires physical flexibility and imagination. A game of ideas. The subject – a chair, a table, an apple – this seemingly “still life” surprises. An unbelievable impression of jumping into a strange space. Delicate gymnastics that lead from true to false, from certainty to doubt, from objectivity to mirage. One part of our brain, looking to differentiate between what our eyes are transmitting, trying, with pleasure and a bit of ambiguity, to give meaning to these installations.
Pascale Geoffrois’ complete text is available on the French version of La Lettre.
