L’Acropole, day by day
Decor always restarted
Of a Parisian palimpsest
Days pass and I come back
Will I end up getting tired of it?
For almost two years now, I have been photographing, day by day or almost, the wild and changing posters covering the window of what was once a Greek restaurant on the rue de l’École de médecine: “L’Acropole”. Not every day because I’m not always in Paris, also because sometimes nothing changes for a while. Conversely, it happens that two passages follow one another in the same day, covering in the evening what had been glued in the morning. From time to time, the counters are reset, the thick layer of paper keeping the memory in strata of several weeks is peeled off and the glass reappears. My schedules must not coincide with those of the gluers and strippers because I have never seen them at work. There remain more than 150 shots that are already piling up, waiting for the next ones… Until when?
