Exhibition presented at the Le Bourget Air and Space Museum, Latitude 48.93 33 is a dive into the spirit of this place that has born the ancestral myth of the birdman, the dream of flying.
Since 2014, Les Epoux P – Pascale & Damien Peyret – have constructed a personal photographic and hybrid workspace in an area shaped by multiple changes: the basin of Le Bourget airport.
For the Greater Paris Photo Month, the two artists are having an interpretation of their work surveying the architectural heritage and their explorations of the photographic collections of the Air and Space Museum. They are unveiling some exceptional pieces – presented for the first time – such as that from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s aircraft or the roller-notes of the Atlantic crossing by Costes and Bellonte.
In the exhibition, the eye moves from one metaphor to another: photographs, photographic devices, artists’ books, videos, gifs… Each of the offerings gives a contemporary reading of the collections, the archives and the heritage places. With this staging in space and the manipulations of the photographic objects, the Epoux P deliver an individual vision of our desire for memory and our propensity to dream. Among the different series: Portraits Cachés shows teenagers jumping, suspended in mid-air, a work produced in front of historical walls in their town. Full-size posters were then stuck to the original walls and photographed again.
