Gagosian Gallery (New York) presents a selection of works by a variety of photography’s influential and engaging contributors. Spanning the last six decades, they evince the profound and rapid development of the photographic medium. Included are works by Richard Avedon and William Eggleston, whose oeuvres helped to establish photography as a contemporary art form, and photographic series from iconic, multidisciplinary artists Richard Prince, Ed Ruscha, Cy Twombly and Andy Warhol. Also featured is a selection of artists in the vanguard of modern photography, including Gregory Crewdson, Roe Ethridge, Inez & Vinoodh, Thomas Ruff, and Taryn Simon among them.
