What is your point of view on the financial side of the photographic market today ?
Photography is a field whose energy cannot be denied. Regarding 20th century photography, certain areas remain to be explored, such as the one we favor, film photography, which is at the intersection of a variety of artistic expressions, not only with moving pictures, but also with the visual arts and with design – through the film’s sets for example – and with all of the artistic expressions of an era. There is also much to discover in the field of documentary photography, this is why, at Paris Photo, we are exhibiting a set of images on eroticism in the performances in Japan after the second World War, that are very unusual. As long as galleries and museums encourage curiosity, offer discoveries, seduce the eyes and mind, photography will remain a healthy field.
