Introduction
The Melanie Rio galery fosters projects through its strong support to creation. It explores contemporary photography, sculpture, video and painting.

What is your point of view on the financial side of the photographic market today?
Photography is doing well. Very well indeed. It is represented in every museum, every art fair, in private foundations, at auctions and, of course, at galleries. Why? Because of its value. Photography has been opened to the world. The camera captures light and contemporary photographers follow suit, using their emotions to translate their own visions of the world.

Many photographers are now considered major artists: Gustave Le Gray, Man Ray, Bernd and Hilda Becher, Diane Arbus, Jeff Wall, Andreas Gursky, and Cindy Sherman, among others.

The gallery MelanieRio represents other great photographers like Patrick Tourneboeuf, Ambroise Tezenas Raphaël Dallaporta, Jean-Claude Pondevie, Edgar Martins and Rune Guneriussen. They all embody a unique style for a unique theme: the land. This is why we have organized the exhibition “Topology” for this edition of Paris Photo.

Paris Photo is the most important photo fair in the worldl. Photography fans and lovers from all over the world meet there. This is our chance to show them that we play an important part in the direction of contemporary photography. Although that is a lot of pressure, it is also a source of immense pride. We are one of the few regional galeries exhibiting at the fair. Our gallery’s section was very well received last year and the fair was a success—a good sign for the photography market. This year, the FIAC (International Fair of Contemporary Art) at the Grand Palais was also a success. It now ranks right behind the most important event of its kind, Art Basel, edging out Frieze in London. This is excellent news for Paris, which is becoming a major player in the international scene. Paris Photo at the Grand Palais will be an extraordinary event, and you cannot afford to miss it!
