Le Destin des Hommes, an exhibition by Gérard Rancinan and Caroline Gaudriault at the Couvent des Cordeliers, runs through June 14th. “As a former photojournalist, I traveled the world and captured what I saw,” writes Rancinan in Paris Match. “Today I see the world with more distance. I use metaphorical images to address changes in society. There’s a feeling now of the need for something supernatural. Mankind has always wanted to surpass itself, even though death is waiting for us at the end of the journey. The angel, however, is immortal, transcending time and religion. The angel can come bearing glad tidings, or warn man of his sins and failures.”
