L’Auberge is the latest work of Estelle Lagarde that was published by La manufacture de l’image. It is also an exhibition; the series is exhibited in Paris at the Galerie Samy Kinge until September 3rd, 2015, before being presented in Brussels at the Mathilde hanger Gallery this autumn.
« This story started in spring 2012 when I returned to a small hotel-restaurant in a village in Corrèze, which had been closed for several years. Characters appeared one after the other, set up, in a room, in the restaurant, at the bar. Progressively, they were captured by silver film. Then the photographs gave me the desire to invite writers in putting into words – putting into talks – to mix their stories with mine. »
