This new opus by Patrick Tourneboeuf follows the carte blanche offered by the Fondazione dell’Albero d’Oro to respond to the first artistic commission that accompanies and documents the transformation of the majestic Venetian Palace.
Palazzo Vendramin Grimani opened to the public on May 24th, echoing the ongoing Venice Architecture Biennale.
Fifteen prints made for this occasion will be discovered alongside treasures of ancient and contemporary art, such as watercolors by Yvan Salomone and Ugo Carmeni Studio, the show is curated by Daniela Ferretti, until November 21st, 2021.
The objective of the Fondazione dell’Albero d’Oro is to support all cultural, artistic and didactic actions in favor of Venice, its history and its international fame in collaboration with prestigious public and private, Italian and international institutions.
Patrick Tourneboeuf is the first artist to be commissioned by the Fondazione dell’Albero d’Oro to create a photographic series seeking to capture the metamorphosis of the historic building – during and after its restoration – in line with the photographer’s personal aesthetic. Patrick Tourneboeuf’s approach is resolutely rounded and systematic and records a subtle and considered perception of the relationship between human beings and their environment: these works question the identity of the places with a force and a synthesis that presuppose radical choices concerning composition and an assertive construction of the point of view. For Patrick Tourneboeuf, the construction of the image is a way of reflecting on the ambiguous relationship between reality and its depiction; in his images, we find a gaze devoid of artifice and effects.
