I started taking pictures around the age of seventeen and Sicily was there.
I started taking pictures because Sicily was there.
To understand it and through photographs to try to understand, perhaps, what it means to be Sicilian. Being Sicilian and going away has been synonym for centuries.
We try to forget Sicily by throwing ourselves into questioning and exploring the world only to discover that the gaze we place on the world is unequivocally that of our Sicilian eyes.
