In the beginning of January 2018, I’ve embarked on this project photographed in Tbilisi streets. The remnants of already ragged or faded political posters with some of them almost torn apart much earlier, even before the elections, became my main source of inspiration.
Political leaders appear on and leave the political scene one after another. After elections, most of them are lost and forgotten along the time; we couldn’t even recall their names. In my project I view them as movie characters of various genres, each of them telling his/her own story.
While retouching photos, I left details of torn, scuffed, rusted, discolored, cracked or peeling surfaces intact, just the way as they were, when I photographed them. However, in order to turn a political leader into an artistic character, I used surrounding chaos on the wall to make it look like canvas.
In conclusion, by using those damaged posters, that still ornate our city, I intend to make photo series in order to show the political figures from a different perspective.
