The Musée des Arts décoratifs (Museum of Decorative Arts) in Paris is presenting the dossier exhibition « Guénaëlle de Carbonnières. Dans le creux des images »( In the Hollow of the images) through February 1, 2026 in the cabinet des Dessins, Papiers peints et Photographies.
This focus spotlights, for the first time, work conceived by the artist-photographer from the museum’s photographic collections.
Inspired by this collection, Guénaëlle de Carbonnières produced, during a residency at the museum, more than 30 new works, reflecting her sensitivity to heritage and architectural memory.
The exhibition is also the site of a broader reflection on photographic material and its fragility. Guénaëlle de Carbonnières’s work raises the delicate question of time passing and the alteration of glass and paper, bringing buried photographs and archives back to life. To create these photographs, the artist experiments with the art of glassmaking by encapsulating images or fusing several negative plates, creating new works.
