Milan 2013 –ProjectB

Preview

ProjectB was established in Milan in 2005, based on the idea of Emanuele Bonomi.

Our founding belief is that an art piece should offer visual guidelines beyond the first impact, driving to a further deeper analysis for the understanding of the concept that defines the work. Research, Concept and Technique are our primary concerns along with a great focus on the interaction with the exhibition space. This informs all of our choices, through the alternation of Italian and foreign artists, established names or young artists to whom we equally channel our energy.

Every New Year, in January, the gallery organises an observatory of new artists, staging the debut solo show of a young artist as well as giving some international exposure during art fairs. The most recent years introduced young English artist Hugo Wilson, Ristruttura‚ a photographic group show and the upcoming solo show of the painter Caroline Walker.

We are boosting our publications, ProjectBooks, with the aim to foster the themes of our past shows, drawing them outside the gallery walls, expanding the exhibition beyond its original timeframe. Following our idea of a constant review of content and information in the context of the international scene, we are about to open the door of the gallery to design with a major exhibition during the Salone Del Mobile of Philippe Malouin.

After seven years in the historical building of via Borgonuovo the gallery is moving to a converted space in the emerging cultural district Via Maroncelli. The project by Ar.ch.it of Luca Cipelletti reflects the spirit of our age with a hi-tech but understated style where the core element is the flow between different exhibition spaces trough a system of optical cones. While creating something new, the original iron elements have been reconverted and expanded throughout the space, lit by a revolutionary lighting system created for ProjectB in collaboration with light designer Alberto Pasetti.

The library itself, a majestic piece of wood, is part of the exhibition space. It leads to the ProjectRoom, that will soon open as a parallel incubator for special curatorial projects: a crossroads between art, design and editorial projects.
