Maxime Daviron, Lost Lands

Preview

The mountains… There is a real power emenating from these places. Vaporous feelings intertwine : fascination, anguish, humility… An omnipresent strangeness awakens in you instinctive and buried emotions, your mind is brought back to the primitive stage of a kind of apprehensive contemplation. Raw forces seem to inhabit these immensities. Forces, presence, energy…

I wander in these lost lands in search of dark and surreal atmospheres, dreamlike moments, out of time. The concept of “Terres Perdues” is based on these feelings. They are ephemeral visions of wild territories, forgotten lights.
In this absence of Sun, the Silence is master.

My inspirations are varied: if music and cinema are the most important, we can also mention H.D. Thoreau’s “Ktaadn” or – among others – H.P. Lovecraft’s “At the Mountains of Madness”; and of course the strong visual influence of the painters William Turner, David Friedrich; and the chiaroscuro movement, transposed to a wild universe.
