Matteo Gozzi, born in Rome in 1979, began at the age of fifteen with black and white photography, developing his photographs in a darkroom. Driven by the need to confront different realities, he has, since 2008, decided to delve further into photography and make it his main activity. He attended a Masters in Photojournalism course at the ISFCI [Higher Institute of Photography and Integrated Communication] in Rome. Up till the present he has realized various photographic reportages, increasingly aiming his sights on man and man’s interaction with the social environment that surrounds him.
The UB Borderline reportage investigates the periurban areas of the Mongolian capital city laying the gaze where the relation between human and environment becomes manifest. The borderline is meant both as geographical and social, as they usually match. These areas are the result of recent urban immigration stirred by climate change, desertification and new social models.
Matteo Gozzi is at the current moment based in Rome.
