To coincide with the Marie-Paule Nègre retrospective at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, the publishing house Terrebleue has released a boxed set of eleven booklets on ten basic themes in the artist’s work.
A member of the Leica Foundation, Marie-Paule Nègre’s work follows in the grand tradition of reportage and on-the-spot photography. A cofounder of the MÉTIS agency in 1989, Nègre received the Prix Nièpce in 1995. From Nord-Pas-de-Calais, where she documented the end of the industrial era, to Burkina Faso, where she supported the fight against female genital mutilation, to the French countryside, where she examined the changing rural society, Nègre has shown her devotion to political engaged photography.
