Playing is a waste of time
Individual happiness is linked to a sense of personal competence and of being appreciated for what you are and what you can do. This was what my parents used to tell me during my childhood and they were very strict and intransigent about that: I was expected to do the household chores around the house and the garden, not to indulge with games and toys.
The obsessive expression “playing is a waste of time” taught me to become an adult early and to react in the proper way to the ups and downs of life, but it deprived me of the joy of being carefree and of learning to enjoy my time, the most precious one.
In this work I tried to make up for lost time… playing with my camera.
To all the boys and girls who could not, cannot and will not be able to play, I dedicate this project of mine.
