Manel Armengol: Transitions

Preview

This traveling exhibition brings together three series comprised of 25 photographs by Manel Armengol taken between 1976-1979 in Spain, the United States and China.

The exhibition began with a single photograph of a freedom demonstration taken in Barcelona in 1976, during the final years of the Franco dictatorship. This photograph sparked Armengol’s career in photography. The image of repression became an icon of the political transition from dictatorship to democracy in Spain. His photographs of important historical moments in Spain were published by Paris-Match, Le Nouvel-Observateur, The New York Times, Newsweek and Der Spiegel, among others.
