Maison Caillebotte : Béatrice Helg : A Luminous World

Preview

In the Orangerie of the Maison Caillebote in Yerres, the Swiss artist Béatrice Helg presents a selection of her works as part of the exhibition entitled « Un Monde lumineux. »

Béatrice Helg’s work is part of the tradition of staged and visual photography. Influenced by Russian constructivism, architecture, theater and especially music, the artist constructs architectural spaces that only exist with light.

The abstract forms of her photographs construct luminous worlds evoking the infinite spaces of nature or the unlimited spaces of dreams. In this mineral and cosmic atmosphere, the sacred silence of matter reigns. These artificial spaces photographed in the studio, made of metal, paper, or glass, immerse us in scenic compositions that echo the vulnerability of nature.

The support of the geometric shapes, placed in the foreground, is carefully concealed to give a feeling of weightlessness. Béatrice Helg’s world is floating, and aerial lightness permeates the large formats of the Cosmos, Résonance and Natura series selected for the exhibition. However, behind the poetry of these floating forms a dizzying and mysterious depth of field opens up – a metaphysics of the invisible.
