The latest issue of the PHOTO magazine is now on sale. This 524th edition showcases nude photography with the works of Russel James, Erica Simone, Uwe Ommer, Volker Hinz, as well as Spencer Tunick whose work is featured on the cover. L’Oeil de la Photographie will give away 20 free copies of the issue.*
In the name of freedom!
On November 14, 2015, the day after the terrorist attacks in Paris, the artist Spencer Tunick sent the editors of PHOTO a picture, which features on the cover of the special issue on nudity, with the message, “Sad about Paris” and the caption, “We are with Paris.”
His Marianne is aimed at all those who want to stifle freedom: freedom of thought, freedom of expression, freedom of creation, freedom to live!
The artist, who, for the past twenty years, has been using the nude in his artistic performances, inspired us to devote an entire issue to nude photography: In order to oppose those who cover up nude statues in the Capitoline Museum in Rome along the path of Iranian President for fear of offending his gaze! In order to side with such stars as Scot LaRue Willis, Cara Delevingne, and Naomi Campbell who have mobilized around the “Free The Nipple” movement, on Facebook and Instagram. But also in order to identify new trends in nude photography, which is undergoing a revival, and to discover great masters of the genre.
