Behind the ambiguous title of Blow Job hides a performance held during the Vilnius design week, when a photographer was inviting people to get photographed in an unusual way.
The photographer was inviting everyone and anyone to sit not just in front of a camera, but also in front of an industrial air blower. As a result of the shoot, Tadas Černiauskas (aka Tadao Cern) had a number of portraits with the expressiveness independent of the models’ will. “I wanted a small attraction for myself and for the visitors of my studio, so that we could simply have a great time“, admitted Tadas, who was surprised by the number of volunteers not afraid to look funny.
The spacious studio was crowded and the photographs exploded in of laughter. The tsunami effect of this photo shoot travelled fast and far, bringing overnight fame to Tado Cern. The global media grasped a catchy work, publishing it across the www (Yahoo news, The Guardian, The Telegraph and numerous other portals and blogs). On Facebook only these portraits received 3 millions clicks. Tadao’s web site crashed due to the unexpectedly high attendance. Numerous publishers asked the photographer for permissions to publish the “Blow Job” images.
Tadas Černiauskas is MA in Architecture, but in spring of 2010 he decided that he should try something else. Photography became that “something else”. Having started with wedding photography, he soon opened a studio Tadao Cern, and the hobby turned into a full time job. Today with his photographic projects and commissions Tadas travels across the world, being sure that most of the interesting things are still to try.
