For the past few seasons, in an exhibition space overlooking the Charente, Jas Hennessy & Co has given visitors the chance to discover the work of artists from around the world. Following the photographs of Marc Riboud in 2011 and Todd Selby in 2012, this year features the work of Jonathan Mannion, one of the essential photographers of hip-hop and urban culture.
Arriving in New York from his native Ohio in the early 1990s, Mannion started taking pictures of the most important players on the American hip-hop scene. “I wanted to photograph all the potential powers in rap at the time. No one had done that before,” he says.
