Dixie Fire Project
The Dixie fire in northern California started on July 13, 2021. It burned until October 25, 2021 and destroyed nearly 1 million acres (over 390,000 hectares). In the end, the fire destroyed more than 650 homes and nearly the same number of other structures. It had a devastating affect on the small town of Greenville which was completely consumed by the fire.
On November 7, 2021 I drove 493 miles from my home near Santa Barbara, California to Greenville to photograph what remains of the town. These photos are a sampling of what I found there.
