Jean-Marie Perier presents a retrospective of legendary British and American music acts from the 1950s and 1960s, spiced up with anecdotes oft his encounters with these artists.
“I was lucky, because I always knew how lucky I was,” says Perier. “Being 22 in 1962 was already a privilege, but to find myself in the right place and with the right people, was a miracle.”
Since the 1950s, Perier has photographed the biggest names in the English-speaking world of jazz, rock, pop and folk. Throughout this collection, bringing together 200 photographs (many never- seen-before), Perier shares his memories of being on tour, his reports for the magazine Salut les copains, photos for album covers, and snapshots taken of the greatest of artists—Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Chuck Berry, Marianne Faithfull, the Beatles and, especially, the Rolling Stones—offering a humorous portrait of these international icons who are too often misunderstood.
