Portrait of Kenzo

I love his work, such happy colors , what a talent!

I asked him to pose for me at a time when he  was going to leave his house on rue Sedaine. After a dinner, I went on a journey with him to his house and became acquainted with the objects that lived there. As at that time he was often absent, he proposed to visit them to better look at them. I executed myself.

I fell in love with a Noh mask, and he told me that it was one of his favorite objects, and explained to me that it was a mask representing a boy, something very rare in the Noh theater

I took it home and photographed it to be the pendant of his portrait.

The portrait was done in the bedroom and then Kenzo began to dance in his beautiful black traditional dress. From that moment I made some photographs with the Hasseblad.

After having animated them, I place these images inside the empty orbits of the mask, they become the pupils and moved. The Noh mask will begin to look and question its double …

Portrait of Sonia Rykiel

I wanted to make a portrait of Sonia in a diptych. One panel would be a portrait of her three-quarter shot, on the other I wanted to make the photo of  sex toys created and edited by Sonia.

I had spotted a rose one, surmounted by a feather puff of the same color.

The shooting with Sonia went well. She is a great in professional and had a lot of courage because I knew her legs were hurting her.

We kissed before she left, and I confided my idea of an amusing diptych. However, she thinks her pink sex toys no longer existed …

Fortunately she said to me: “But Jean there are plenty of others! Come to the shop and choose what you want! ”

By making me this proposal she condemned me to a little over a year of work, because there are more than 20 different sex toys and I decided to make an animation.

More than 300 photos, I photographed them with two or three different lights, which allows to see their materials and their colors.

I also photograph her hands with a pair of sewing scissors lent by my friend Isabel Marrant, which saved me.

For me it’s really one of the most beautiful portraits where we see a touching face more that as already gone to heaven, and, next to it, these funny objects that we see moving happily.

Thank you Sonia for having surprised us so much.
