The children of the river
These photographs were taken along the Mekong in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.
More than 250 million people live in its basin and it is an integral part of the regional cultural identity. A common mythological figure, the Naga serpent, guardian of the river, adorns the temples built along its route.
For this series, I chose children, why? Because these children are born and grow up on the banks of this river and they are its guarantors for the future. For them, it is still a playground but tomorrow the Mekong will be their partner for life.
