Self-taught photographer, Jacques Guillaume, after many years as a social worker in Seine-Saint-Denis, very naturally began working for local communities and businesses. This field experience allowed him to work in many different environments, developing a taste for a success in the art of the portrait.
“Seeing Double”
“It all started with an image. A picture taken during a work assignment. Moroccan twins, a family run restaurant in Montpellier. I do not know why this picture moved me, a mixture of softness and strength … I could not bring myself to let it lie dormant in my computer. The only way for me to keep it alive was to include it in my other images. For a long time I had been toying with the idea of making a series, now was the time. I began by looking for the twins.
